Nice to meet you!

Hello everyone. My name is Jennifer, and I am the creator and owner of Cross Stitch Boutique.

I would love to share with you a short story about who I am and how I got to where I am today... come share a cup of tea and some deserts with me for a few minutes.

I am a Gen-X baby. For those of you who know... you know. I have been cross stitching since I was 12 years old and have been addicted ever since. My "second mom" is the one who taught me how to cross stitch. It is a wonderful childhood memory that I will never forget.

When I was young, I loved antiques and arts & crafts. I was always making decorations with my mother, such as beautiful wreaths, garlands, tabletop pieces, and home decor. My grandfather was a cabinet maker and made Queen Anne style furniture by hand. My grandmother ran an antique store with him for over 50 years. Selling his furniture, along with beautiful Tiffany lamps, glassware, china, antique furniture, and more.

When I graduated high school, I found no interesting career studies for me in college that didn't require moving to a completely different part of the country, so I started working full-time instead. Somehow, I ended up in a career in Mechanical, HVAC, and Civil and Survey Engineering, learning on the job. Definitely not the "creative" I had in mind, but it got me moving in life. Then before I knew it, I did what so many of us did... fell in love and got married. I continued working and cross stitching in my spare time. It was about then, that hand dyed fabrics started to appear. I was addicted immediately, but, I could not devote any real time to my hobby anymore (even though I already had accumulated a stash big enough for 10 lifetimes!) because I had become a mom! My hobbies were basically put on the back burner. My life was now working, being a wife and bringing 5 beautiful children into the world.

As they grew a little older, I ended up going to college at the age of 40 studying graphic design. I loved it! Finally something right up my alley! This got my creative juices flowing again, and I had to figure out what to do with my rekindled love of the use of color and design. I decided why not combine my lost love of cross stitch with my proclivity towards color and design. I felt that opening my own cross stitch business and creating beautiful hand dyed fabrics was what I was meant to do. After all, having a brick and mortar retail store would follow right in the footsteps of my family.

Cross Stitch Boutique was born

My vision for Cross Stitch Boutique was to be a store that offers more "boutique" type products and more personal customer service than the "big", impersonal cross stitch online stores. I try to specialize in products less known in the USA from International designers/companies as well as the more common designers and products.

Without getting into personal details...I had a setback when Covid hit the world, and everything just went crazy in my life.

With time, things got so much better, and now I am back to working full-time. I once again have the goal, health, and energy to continue to grow, learn, create, and get to know as many of you as possible. Oh, and open a brick and mortar location in time.

I have the good fortune of now having my first official part-time employee, who just happens to be my oldest daughter. Her and I together will be here with you always. Expanding our product lines, growing our website, creating more fabric colors, all while enjoying our time together. We hope you will say hello, as we would love to get to know you.

God bless you, your family, and loved ones.
